
The nationwide blackout has been attributed to national grid collapse, a frequent denominator in the nation’s power generation and supply chain.
Out of the 11 DISCOs across, only Ibadan DISCO has as low as 20MW, all the others have zero megawatts of electricity, triggering a nationwide blackout.
The Abuja Electricity Distribution Company (AEDC) which has put out a message, confirmed that the blackout was caused by a national grid collapse at 11:23 am, disrupting supply across its franchise areas.
It said efforts are ongoing in collaboration with relevant stakeholders to restore power once the grid is stabilized.
Lagos is gravely affected by the grid collapse and this has affected economic activities.
