Two Senators sworn in to fill vacant seats

The Senate has sworn in Emmanuel Nwachukwu of APGA as Senator representing Anambra South.

Also sworn during plenary on Wednesday, is Joseph Ikpea of the APC as Senator representing Edo Central.

Akpabio in his remarks congratulated the new senators and reminded that they have been called for national duty.

Akpabio urged them to focus their representation on the generality of Nigerians and not their political parties.

He urged them to imbibe the contents of the 1999 Nigerian Constitution as amended and the senate standing rules to be acquainted with the workings of the senate.

Senators Nwachukwu and Ikpea were elected in August 2025 in the by election conducted by INEC to fill vacant seats created in the senate following the death of Senator Ifeanyi Uba, and the departure of Monday Okpebholo who contested and won the governorship election in Edo state.
