Charles Chukwuma Soludo, the governorship candidate of the All Progressives Grand Alliance, APGA, in the Anambra State governorship election held on Saturday is in clear lead and would be declared winner of the election any moment from now.
The Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, which has uploaded by Saturday night 5,685 results representing 99.39% of the 5,720 results expected will be making the announcement in a couple of hours. With only two LGAS left, Soludo won in the 19 LGAs already collated leading by very wide margins.
INEC has suspended collation until 6a.m. Sunday morning after observers, journalists and other stakeholders had gathered at the commission’s headquarters in Awka, Anambra State capital as early as 2:10 a.m., on Sunday, for the collation.
However, despite the collation, some opposition party officials have cried foul play, saying the election was rigged by APGA using incumbency power and support from some security personnel.
Below are tallied results for the top four contenders so far:
APGA: 389,789 – Chukwuma Soludo
APC: 91,592 – Nicholas Ukachukwu
LP: 10,366 – George Moghalu
PDP: 1,230 – Jude Ezenwafor
