Insecurity, funding headline Tinubu’s meeting with service chiefs

President Bola Tinubu on Monday held a closed-door meeting with service chiefs at the Presidential Villa in Abuja.

The Presidency did not disclose details of the meeting except that pre-discussions focused on national security priorities and strategic defence coordination.

However, Presidency insiders hinted Political Economist NG that Boko Haram menace and allied insecurity issues dominated discussion during the President’s first meeting with the new set of service chiefs.

There was also assurance of improved funding by the president who expressed deep concern about the growing confidence of the insurgents despite recent massive onslaught against them by the nation’s security apparatchik.

President Tinubu was said to have reassured the service chiefs of his support, expressing his willingness to see the end of insecurity across the nation.

Some of those in attendance were the Chief of Defence Staff (CDS), General Olufemi Oluyode; the Chief of Air Staff, Air Vice Marshal Kelvin Aneke; the Chief of Naval Staff, Rear Admiral Idi Abbas; the Chief of Defence Intelligence, Major General EAP Undiendeye, and the Chief of Army Staff, Major General Waidi Shaibu.

As soon as the security chiefs arrived at the Presidential Villa for the meeting, Mr Sunday Dare, a key Presidential media aide had tweeted:  “Loading: New Service Chiefs in the State House in a crucial meeting with the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR … -Chief of Defence Staff – Lieutenant General OO Oluyede (N/9318). -Chief of Defence Intelligence – Major General EAP Undiendeye (N/9563). -Chief of Army Staff – Major General W Shaibu (N/9895). 1Chief of Naval Staff – Rear Admiral I Abbas (NN/1739). -Chief of Air Staff – Air Vice Marshal SK Aneke (NAF/2182),” Sunday Dare, the Special Adviser, Media & Public Communication/Spokesperson to President Tinubu, wrote on his verified X account.
